I thought about this today as we are remodeling our home. We are repainting and fixing everything up. It needed a little refreshing. It is kind of like yourself with God. You need a little refreshing from time to time.
When you start stripping wallpaper, aren’t you surprised what you find under it? The deeper and deeper you go, the more things you will find and some of these things can be ugly. It is like me. Don’t dig too deep because you don’t know what you will find.
So let’s paint instead. We can paint over it all. There can be a new color painted every year. Wouldn’t that be refreshing? Just paint over the sadness. Just paint over the pain. No one will see it because we are painting over it. Don’t forget to patch all of the holes too. There are holes everywhere. How many pictures and shelves did these people hang? The patching takes days to dry because the holes are so big.
We need to be new creatures with Jesus. There is no painting or patching over things. We are new. We are fresh without the painting. Wash your walls. Make them clean. Pray your sadness and pain away. He can take it all from you. He is there for you today and all you have to do is make Him yours. Wallpaper, painting, patching or Jesus. What would you prefer?
